Cryogenic Air Prespurification
This is a cryogenic temperature distillation separation process. In order to function properly, the CO2 and water must be removed from the air for a proper nitrogen/oxygen separation. Sepcor Molecular Sieves 13X and Activated Aluminas are well suited for these operating conditions and can remove water and CO2 effectively in either a thermal swing operation or partial Pressure swing (PSA)/ Vaccum Swing (VSA)/Thermal combination.
Pressure Swing Vacuum Swing Adsorption (PSA/VSA)
During the pressure swing vacuum swing adsorption process, water, CO2 VOC’s, are removed via pressure swing adsorption. This phase is typically done with combination Carbon, Molecular Sieves, Alumina, and Silica Gel combinations. The Purified Nitrogen/Oxygen mixture is then separated with a 13X molecular Sieve or LiX molecular sieve for optimum selectivity and adsorption to produce oxygen.
Nitrogen is produced via use of Carbon Molecular Sieves in a similar PSA/VSA configuration. Carbon Molecular Sieve adsorbs oxygen gas, carbon dioxide gas, moisture from air while nitrogen gas passes through and is available at the outlet.
